Kush Thaker

Humanitarian Policy Analyst

United Nations World Food Programme, Rome

I work on systems that connect people to humanitarian assistance — how affected populations are identified and reached across complex, multi-actor responses. At the intersection of emerging technology, operations, and governance, I focus on the responsible use of facial recognition. My field experience began in Uganda, supporting the refugee response. Today, my work spans the Global South, linking field realities to enterprise systems and interagency reform, with particular focus on the Horn of Africa and the Sahel.

Originally from Toronto and based at WFP Headquarters in Rome, I am drawn to work that strengthens international institutions and advances Canada's leadership in the world.

Always love to connect with people working across tech and global affairs — drop me a line!

Bachelor of Applied Science (BASc) in Systems Design Engineering, University of Waterloo.
